about us

The Epitome of a Legacy

Our story began at the 2020 Afrika Kwetu Trek; a walk that was organized to trace the footsteps of the National Resistance Army (NRA) in the Luwero Triangle. Upon conclusion, children of the living and deceased NRA fighters that were able to trek with the President for a period of ten (10) days founded MZM organization with the guidance of Maj, Gen. Sam Kavuma and Brig, Moses Rwakitarate.
With the main aim of preserving the NRA/ UPDF legacy, MZM has open membership and admits all interested sons and daughters of living and fallen soldiers of the NRA & UPDF, and ideologically oriented well-wishers recommended by the founders.

Core Objectives

  1. To preserve the legacy of the NRA / UPDF
  2. To engage in socioeconomic and business activities for the benefit of the members.
  3. To generate opportunities and create wealth through the socioeconomic dimension.
  4. To cooperate and build strategic partnerships with all government institutions and agencies in a bid to create windows of opportunity resource mobilization and mentorship.
  5. To enhance togetherness and unity.

Our Journey In The Spotlight

The following have been some of the activities MZM has carried out since her inception;
Start

MZM joined the rest of the country in the fight against the Corona pandemic; through the managing authority, the organization made a donation of 200 Protective Face Shields and 26 boxes of gloves, all worth 5.68M. MZM also used her social media platforms to disseminate information about the virus to the public.

4

Lectures of Opportunity: We have had two lectures of opportunity from Maj. Gen. Sam Kavuma (Deputy Commander Land Forces) and Maj. Gen. Moses Rwakitarate (Defense Attaché to the European Union). These have been important in as far as the formation of the association is concerned.

6

National Events: Representatives from MZM, led by the Chairperson Mr. Tumusiime took part in the 39th Tarehe Sita celebrations on 6th February, 2020 in Nakaseke District, at the invitation of the Chief of Defence Forces. This was followed with the 10th Tarehe Sita thanksgiving, at Kololo Independence grounds.

8

MZM members have also been very supportive of their fellow members in times of need, since inception; we have lost over five parents, and as an organization, we send out condolence messages, financial support and representative to attend burial and lay wrath

10

As of today, 13/03/2020, MZM is at the stage of creating a strategic plan that will guide the operations of the association, and our focus is on five strategic sectors; Energy, Agriculture, ICT, Industry and Tourism

1

The Afrika Kwetu Trek was the maiden activity for MZM, it was at this walk in the Luwero triangle that the idea to form MZM was birthed. Different categories of people participated in this walk, including; children of living and fallen NRA heroes who were represented by over 10 participants.

3

MZM also held a series of developmental meetings with the Minister of ICT and Former NITA ED in regard to development of the ‘Covid Tracer’ application. The organization partnering with Defining Technologies Limited managed to get certified by NITA-U.

5

Meetings: MZM has held a series of meetings across two components; that is the Steering Committee and General group meetings. The steering committee has held over five (05) planning meetings and a two day retreat, all geared towards the formation of the association registration, strategic planning, development and mobilization. MZM has also held two general meetings, the first being on 20/01/2020 and the second one held on 29/02/2020. Attendance has grown per the last meeting, thanks to the team overseeing the group’s activities.

7

MZM has managed to set up social media accounts that are active on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

9

Membership currently stands at 256 members, and of these 114 have fully paid the membership fee of 25,000UGX, with the possibility of growing once the structures are conclusively set up. The factor of having a regionally balanced and effective association is top of the agenda
