It gives me great pleasure and honor to be identified with the association ‘that brings together the children of late comrades and those of the living. “Mbegu Za Mapinduzi” as the word suggests means “the seeds of the revolution”.
I want to congratulate you on behalf of all your parents both deceased and the living for coming together in forming a meaningful association but also for the selection of the name “Mbegu Za Mapinduzi” which reflects our efforts in liberating this country and your existence.
Our war was a peoples’ protracted struggle which brought together both armed combatants and civilians to massively support the cause to liberate Uganda and its people.
The struggle was launched to stop dictatorship by the leaders of Uganda at the time, end oppression of the people by the state, end abuse of human rights, lack of freedom, impunity, and lack of democracy and to give Ugandans a sense of belonging.
While the militants were weaker than the state of Uganda at that time, the few men and women were able to succeed in the struggle due to conscious discipline, patriotism and Pan Africanism by following the visionary leadership of the struggle, which was based on a correct line of thinking.
As the association takes root, you must be cognizant of the fact that Uganda has achieved requisite conditions for socio- economic transformation, key of these being peace and security, freedom of speech and association, rule of law, infrastructural development, education, industrialization, democracy, and an enabling environment for the growth of the service sector.
As your patron, I must tell you that the struggle continues. You must get out of your comfort zone and work towards the preservation of the ideals, values and legacy of the NRA/NRM struggle.
This noble goal can only be realized by taking advantage of the enabling environment and opportunities that are in abundance in Uganda, to focus your association to achieve socio-economic transformation for yourselves, your families and the generations after you.
I want to congratulate you upon compiling your company profile and I will continue to offer my guidance as the patron of the association.
The struggle continues.
